Deleting a document

Deleting a document doesn't erase it right away. It's moved to a deleted state and can be restored — see Documents. While your account is active, a deleted document is not automatically purged after some period of time; it stays recoverable until it's permanently removed as part of the account-level cleanup below.

What happens to data on an expired account

If an account becomes billing-expired and stays that way, its data is kept for a retention period and then permanently deleted. Specifically, about 60 days after an account becomes expired, all of that organization's data — documents, the stored copies of saved files, and usage records — is permanently deleted. This is the only automatic, irreversible deletion in Permanent Record.

To avoid this, keep your subscription active, or resubscribe before the retention period ends. For how accounts become expired, see Plans & trial.
